Prologue Late January, 1811 London Brooks's gentlemen's club "Bridgewater is as unlucky at hazard as I am at controlling my son," the Marquess of Trelissick announced to the small party of plump old men gathered around the gaming table. The Earl of Bridgewater, who sat to his right, was the plumpest of the men. He laughed at his friend's assessment. |
